2012 IS HERE
Hello to All,
Well, We/I have been very slack here on our blog but in 2012 I promise to have more regular posts with things to show you what is happening at The Quilters Shack.
First of all I hope that a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year was had by all. Let's hope that 2012 is bigger and better than 2011.
If you have a little one going to Day Care or Kindie we have a terrific Junior Quilt in a Pillow for them to take their naps on. It is easy to make and we have kits ready to go. Here is a pic of the one we made but if you would like it in a different colourway we can do that for you as well. The finished size is 42" x 60" (107cm x 152 cm).

We also have a bigger version of this quilt which is great for bigger children to take for sleepovers or school camps or just to have at home.
Until next time

Joy Coey Workshop
On Saturday 15th October we had the wonderful Joy Coey for a workshop. It was a fabulous day enjoyed by all 16 ladies who attended. Joy specialises in the 'Quilt-as-you-Go' method of patchwork and quilting. Of those 16 ladies there were four staff members, myself (Jenny), Debbie (our Manager), Julia and Leanne. Myself and Leanne usually work on Saturdays but we really wanted to do this workshop so Jennene kindly stepped in and looked after the shop for us. Unfortunately, Sue-Ellen (the Boss) was unable to be there with us as she was in hospital. Don't worry Sue we looked after Joy and all the ladies and the day was a huge success. We all sincerely wish you a speedy recovery.

Kerry-Ann and myself hard at work.

Bev almost completed hers, one border then the binding to go. Well done Bev.
Carol almost finished - great going Carol.
Debbie with end borders and binding to go. When will we see it finished Deb?????
Denise also has one border and binding to go. Ready for Christmas Denise.
Dot tells us that she hasn't done any sewing for 15 years so this is a great achievement.
Well done Leanne, a great effort for one so ... mmmmm shall I say 'fussy'.
How good do these two look, good work Helen and Karen.
Kerry-Anne with one of her borders on back to front. I don't have a pic of Kerry-Anne with her finished runner. A great achievement Kerry-Ann.
Julie chose Oriental fabrics for hers and it looks fabulous. Great choice Julie.
And this is my effort. Now to finish it off hand stitching down the sashings and binding.
Thanks for a wonderful day Joy.

We've moved
To all our friends, we have moved to a new a better location now situated at 18 Toonburra St Bundaberg.
Our new store is 3 times larger than our last one.
We now stock Pfaff Sewing Machines which we love especially with the IDT. On the weekend some of the staff went down to Terrigal in NSW to see the new machines just released such as the 2 Ambition machines. A great little machine with blanket stitch and the Ambition 1.5 also has the sensormatic free motion, which is a great help when doing free motion quilting.
Also release was the new Creative Sensation, this machine has to be seen to be believed. It is just a dream. (Where do they stop!!!!)
Its Singers 160 Anniversary and they have a limited edition sewing machine that is a take off the original black cast iron one, at only $499 with a going trade in, is great value. All machines received as trade ins will be donated to a 3rd world country.
So come in a visit us if you would like more information on these machines or anything else we can help you with.

Our Biggest News
The Quilters Shack has won the dealership for Pfaff in Bundaberg. This is fantastic news, we think. We havn't received stock as yet but that will be happening very soon. We are yet to have training etc but I am sure that will also be happening in the very near future as well.
Every Day Tote
This bag was made by Debbie using our new Batik fabrics. She has simply called it 'Every Day Tote'. It is so hard trying to think up names for things. The blue one has Fast-2-Fuse in it and Debbie says that she had so much trouble stitching the gusset in that she decided to make a second one using medium weight iron on pellon. She says it was so easy to stitch and would recommend not using the Fast-2-Fuse. The pattern is available in our store and you can order it by emailing us at girls@thequiltersshack.com.We still have to find the time to get our website up-to-date - and who knows when that will be.

Popcorn the Bear
Here is Popcorn the Bear. I made this simply to have in the shop to show the fabrics. For some, it is difficult to imagine what the fabrics would look like made up into a quilt so we at The Quilters Shack try to get something made up for those who struggle with this. For this little quilt, it is probably a good cot size, I simply cut up the panel, added sashings and borders. The cornerstones are part of the panel and there are still a few of them as well as four of the larger ones left that you could easily make a pillow out of. Somehow (it was quite easy really) I got all the little heart cornerstones in the top half of the quilt - it really wasn't meant to be like that but I am not doing any 'reverse sewing' to fix it.
We have been very busy in the shop over the last few weeks, this is a good thing but we don't seem to have time to get updates to the website done. If you can't find something on our site please send us an e-mail (girls@thequiltersshack.com) or phone (07 41544486) and we will do our utmost to help you.
